Nyctaginaceae, the four o'clock family, is a family of around 33 genera and 290 species of flowering plants, widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. Mirabilis himalaica (Edgew.) Heimerl belongs to the family Nyctaginaceae and is endemic to the Himalayas. Its roots are used as important Tibetan folk medicine for the treatment of nephritis edematous, renal calculus, arthrodynia, and uterine cancer.
