Platanaceae is a family of flowering plants in the order Proteales. The family consists of only a single extant genus Platanus, with eight known species. Platanus orientalis L. (Platanaceae) is a medicinal tree used in Iranian folklore and traditional medicine as a pain and inflammation reliever.
