Mouse SERPIN A1 is a serine protease inhibitor whose targets include elastase,plasmin, thrombin, trypsin, chymotrypsin, and plasminogen activator. Defects in this gene can cause emphysema orliver disease. Several transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
